This is a tutorial that you can buy but the picture might give you an idea of how to make lampwork beads a-la pandora style ūüôā

One of my favorites! I am going to try to make some of these in dog and cat form ūüôā

Some YouTube movies

In this one the camera moves a lot but it’ll give you an idea

I really like this one and the clear instructions. Also the idea to use a toothpick first, then a skewer and then the core, because it will distort your bead less… Oh and she uses cane slices ūüôā

Italian video but she uses a flathead screwdriver to get the rest of the clay out of the hole AND I saw she is also using the grommets that one would use for fabric (with one of those special pliers that crimps them together)

Not a tutorial but it shows a lot of different style pandora beads

These are from Luny….Thanks Luny!

YEA!

November 19, 2012

I am sure there is a quote almost like what I am going to say but I will get lost on the information highway looking for it so I am not going and will wing it on my own I want to blog.

If you depend on someone to help you do or change something they will never help you until it becomes inconvenient for them not to.

Case in point.

My computer has been giving me all kinds of warning signals saying there was low battery and no disk space for a while now. None no space how in the heck is that?? I cleaned all I could to free up space and asked son if he could as well. Still wasn’t enough to free up space so I had to decide what the next step was and today was the day to get that checked off my list. I have the dragon swap mailing in the next week and will need space on the computer to save the pictures EEEKKK.

I went to Best Buy¬†and found an external drive that holds 1.5 tb. A tb is a terrabyte and that is equal to¬†1000GigaByte. Now that’s not what I went in there looking for I asked the guy to show me what my options were for clearing up some space on the computer. He showed me two items and after I asked what in the heck a terrabyte was it was decided by me that was a shitload of room and I would never have to worry again problem solved battery on order life is good!

When I get home and instruct #1 son to move his music to the drive so there is room on the computer and I can start bloggen again he asks what in the heck a terrabyte is Ha Ha. When it became inconvenient for him to have to use the external drive to add or listen to music suddenly 4 gigabytes magically appeared free on my computer and I am now sitting here blogging again AND will be able to take that terrabyte thing back to the store.

I missed it and really missed sharing my recent creation.

I hope to blog about the Zentangle creation soon and for me this one was a challenge. I know what went wrong so next time it can only get better. Here are the sides of a box before assembly to get an idea of how great it turned out. Enjoy the eye candy and get ready for the two sides of art retrospect as was soooooo true this time while creating.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Matchbox Swap Pics and Giveaway!

April 4, 2012

Finally I am able to show you the pictures of the match box swap shrine that just finished up. I must admit they dropped out like flies this time! I do not know exactly what it was about the match box swap that got to us but it was a hard one this time!  Enjoy the pics!

And I do not know what in the heck I did with my photo but I can not move it around so crick your neck and see what one of the lucky winners gets in the giveaway!

And now you have the match box swap giveaway!

And the winner is Erl Hill. I hope that you enjoy it and it can help you some time with your art. Sometimes it is a hard struggle to create what we think is art I know I do. I have a bowl of rocks that I have written simple inspirational things on. When I struggle with a design I reach into the bowl and it helps me with direction. This was a play on that bowl that helps me. On the outside I chose a combination lock because it is not one thing (like a key) that is needed but many techniques to finish a project. With each completed project we add to our library of knowledge.

Erl I hope you enjoy this match box swap and be on the look out as soon we will have the Carol Simmons swap pictures and give away. (NOTE it is my piece being given away not Carol’s).

Cool colors

March 17, 2012

Cool colors

Here are some cool colors I mixed.

Could not figure out what to do with them so I made some slices that turned out real nice.

And the finished bracelet.

Both the matchbox and Carol Simmons Class swaps are finishing up. Remember my new goal to give away on the blog when I do  a swap. You can expect the first giveaway announcement next week!

Happy claying.

Clean Worktable

February 22, 2012

I do not know about you but I hate a clean work table. It may indeed be my biggest fear as an artist.

Family stuff is still in the way but the end is in sight and we just need to make it there together.

Both of the swaps I am in are complete now and have been for a few weeks. I am just waiting on all the boxes to start showing up and then the real work will begin. Somehow I have both of them closing the first week of March with  mail dates of the 15th. One of the things I did decide was that each time I am in a swap I plan on making one of whatever it is to give to a reader on the blog. So get ready two swaps are closing soon woo hoo.

What am I left with?

A clean work table, and a to do list a mile long.

I looked at the list and nothing really grabbed me so I decided to go through a box of supplies that needed to be priced. Found a ton of ear wires and it seems like I must have ordered them not been able to find them and then ordered again. Oh well I can make earrings for a while.

Mini Food Swap Pics

January 9, 2012

My husband has been out-of-town for the last two and a half months, he comes home Thursday. With that in mind I spent today watching Wild Card Weekend and getting all the clay related items all over the house back in the studio.

It is always nice when you can actually see the table surface not sure how long this will last but it is nice for now.

One of the first projects I will be working on while back in the studio is this………….

http://www.dancormier.ca/DanCormier/ReliefBeyondBelief.html

The artist in me says Wonderful! I have the opportunity to learn a technique with new tools that are provided to master that technique.

The crazy clay lady in me says Heck Yea mama got some new toys I am going to play!

Finally the mini food swap pics are up. As always I was so amazed at how wonderful the entries were. Great job guys!

Vacation Mode Baby!

September 10, 2011

One of the things on my vacation checklist is to remove my chairs from my desk. They think the customers will sit down and wait for me to come back (they might). This week for me is a staycation with few plans.

I want to get work shoes. Did that one today along with a few other really good deals yea for me!

I want to watch one of son’s football games which I will do Monday after noon.

I want to finish the Colorful Ocean Creatures for the swap at City O Clay. I will be able to do that one next week while hubby is at work and son at school.

I want to not feel the pressure to complete a bunch of the things that need to be done around the house.

I want to not be distracted by one of my finds. I first saw this last year and ever since then I keep seeing this as a new clay series.

Wish me luck!

Slow Clay Week

August 29, 2011

This week for us in the Northeast it has all been about hurricane preparedness. Everyone went crazy at the stores buying what they thought they would need and got ready to batten down the hatches for a monumental storm. In our house that meant bringing in the Gardenias. I walk by them every day and I never really notices how large the leaves were on this one.

It was almost dead last year and somehow this guy brought it back to better than perfect health.

How often do you feel almost dead with your creations? You feel like nothing new can come from your hands or what does is not good enough. What is it that inspires you as an artist to create things or go places you have never gone before? What makes you grow?

For me one of the great motivating things I have participated in the last couple of years are the swaps at City O Clay. This time it is Colorful Ocean Creatures and for a while I was stumped at what to make. Last week I finally got some inspiration and am running with it!

Of course it is all top-secret until the swap is over but I think my entry if I can perfect it will be a great contribution.

What have you done that has challenged your art?

Or even better what will you do to let your art grow off the charts the way hubby’s gardenia has.

Tin Swap Pics

August 14, 2011

I am finally able to share with you the participants for the tin swap 2011. We have such a group of talented artists who really made this swap fun. I hope you enjoy the pictures and if you would like to join in on the fun the next swap has already started it is colorful ocean creatures.

Again I want to thank all the participants. Without you I would have nothing to sort and send. Thank you for all the hard work, time and determination you have proven to complete this task. Great job!
